NatureWorks 2026: How a community is greening the grey

Friday 5 June in Ballymun, 10am - 2pm. Book a spot on Eventbrite.

An EU Green Week partner event.

Exploring community-created nature projects in urban areas focusing on one community in north Dublin: Ballymun

The Ballymun Biodiversity Action Group has created an extraordinary showcase for nature-friendly urban greening in a small green space in collaboration with a local school, businesses and philanthropic funders. NatureWorks 2026 will take place in the site of their pocket forest, orchard and pond. The event will bring together artists, biodiversity experts, urban growers, circular economy practitioners, business leaders and local nature activists to explore how nature can flourish when people work together.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Event One

Celebrate National Tree Week with a free screening of The Forest Midwife, followed by a conversation between the director and her subject. How can artists and filmmakers advocate for nature? What does it feel like to take action? Watch The Forest Midwife and become part of the conversation. Be inspired to plant trees, advocate for better environmental education, or just spend time in this remote landscape watching nature begin to fix things. Every screening sparks a new hope.

We invite you to join us once more. The next screening will take place in Bay 1 at the Digital Hub on Friday March 14th at 6pm. Where will the conversation take us this time?

We cannot wait to find out - with you.

What people are saying: “A really beautiful film that engages the head and the heart. Calls to the wild child in all of us”
